Free Powerpoint to iPod Converter

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Hey guys, quick heads up to download a PowerPoint to iPod converter for free from Giveaway of the Day here.
There’s only 4 and a half hours left to save the $30 to buy it.
Haven’t tried it yet but it may be a good way for PC users to create enhanced podcasts.

Enhanced Podcasts on Windows

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

What i've certainly been waiting for looks to have finally arrived…. enhanced podcasts on windows!

Some guys at the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching in the US figured out a way to turn PowerPoint presentations into enhanced podcasts. The link is http://www.celt.sunysb.edu/webpoderator/ and to think I almost bought a Mac just to be able to do this!

You'll also need the PowerPoint Producer plugin here

Meet-up for August

Monday, August 21st, 2006

Hey all.

Proposing a meet-up at the usual place (Bull & Bush Inn) next Tuesday 29th August at 7pm. That time's good for Bruce and I but post a comment either way regarding availability.

These things are informal and fun and are usually recorded (because that's what we do) - post a comment if that's an issue though.

Selling Podcast Advertising via eBay

Monday, July 24th, 2006

You guys probably know it's been done before (see TPN and RocketBoom's efforts), but what do you think of eBay as an ad sales tool. Rocketboom got pretty decent coin when they did it but they had huge exposure for their auction from the start (massive audience and a lot of net talk about it). For those of us wanting to start putting in ads, what can we hope for. In my case, it would seem highly unlikely for a producer of wine related products to; 1. know of podcasts, 2. want to advertise on one, and 3. think to look on eBay. It seems more likely for me to (once i have a few people keen to advertise on my podcast) set up an auction on eBay and let them loose on it.

One of the main advantages of being on a network, is not having the problem of finding advertisers (the other would be the additional exposure it brings). TPN (the podcast network) is doing eBay auctions again and it'll be interesting to see how it goes. Although it's global in content and reach, CEO Cam Reilly is from Melbourne. Anyone wanting to join a network should seriously consider TPN (over podshow) as the business model appears to give podcasters a greater slice of the pie. I'll be putting future podcasts i do on TPN but for now, The Oz Wine Show is a podcast i enjoy doing everything for. For now that is Smile

ABC podcast numbers growing exponentially

Monday, July 3rd, 2006

The ABC has been promising an update on its podcast numbers for a little while now. In its last release on the subject (in March), Radio National was enjoying a record 175,000 downloads/week. Now, according to figures given to the Sydney Morning Herald for an interview with Phillip Adams, his show, Late Night Live alone is downloaded 100,000 times/week.

As the article points out by comparison, BBC Radio 1's morning host, Chris Moyles, is downloaded 40,000 times/week; further evidence of podcasting's appeal to an age demographic not usually associated with headphone wires and portable players.
