What i've certainly been waiting for looks to have finally arrived…. enhanced podcasts on windows!
Some guys at the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching in the US figured out a way to turn PowerPoint presentations into enhanced podcasts. The link is http://www.celt.sunysb.edu/webpoderator/ and to think I almost bought a Mac just to be able to do this!
You'll also need the PowerPoint Producer plugin here.

Hey all.
Proposing a meet-up at the usual place (Bull & Bush Inn) next Tuesday 29th August at 7pm. That time's good for Bruce and I but post a comment either way regarding availability.
These things are informal and fun and are usually recorded (because that's what we do) - post a comment if that's an issue though.

You guys probably know it's been done before (see TPN and RocketBoom's efforts), but what do you think of eBay as an ad sales tool. Rocketboom got pretty decent coin when they did it but they had huge exposure for their auction from the start (massive audience and a lot of net talk about it). For those of us wanting to start putting in ads, what can we hope for. In my case, it would seem highly unlikely for a producer of wine related products to; 1. know of podcasts, 2. want to advertise on one, and 3. think to look on eBay. It seems more likely for me to (once i have a few people keen to advertise on my podcast) set up an auction on eBay and let them loose on it.
One of the main advantages of being on a network, is not having the problem of finding advertisers (the other would be the additional exposure it brings). TPN (the podcast network) is doing eBay auctions again and it'll be interesting to see how it goes. Although it's global in content and reach, CEO Cam Reilly is from Melbourne. Anyone wanting to join a network should seriously consider TPN (over podshow) as the business model appears to give podcasters a greater slice of the pie. I'll be putting future podcasts i do on TPN but for now, The Oz Wine Show is a podcast i enjoy doing everything for. For now that is

The ABC has been promising an update on its podcast numbers for a little while now. In its last release on the subject (in March), Radio National was enjoying a record 175,000 downloads/week. Now, according to figures given to the Sydney Morning Herald for an interview with Phillip Adams, his show, Late Night Live alone is downloaded 100,000 times/week.
As the article points out by comparison, BBC Radio 1's morning host, Chris Moyles, is downloaded 40,000 times/week; further evidence of podcasting's appeal to an age demographic not usually associated with headphone wires and portable players.

Okay so this site is finally and now officially open for use and abuse.
To everyone who has (or will be) attending the Sydney meet-ups, please feel free to register (http://sydneypodcaster.com/wp-register.php ) so you can post relevant news articles, commentary, resources or questions. Registrations default to "author". You do not need to register to post comments but at present, there is no little "comments" indicator on the front page posts - you need to click into each post to read and write comments. I can just change the theme but i like this one so if anyone has a fix, let me know.
So i've been communicating with Phil Massyn and we figure this site is a more efficient hub for the Yahoo Group. Ideally you publish any comments or questions as a post and we can reply via comments - i think i will change the theme. You can subscribe via RSS (best option) or email to either the global site feed or those only specific to the Group and its members. See sidebar for details.
I'll do a new page concerning the etiquette of writing a post. On that page too i'll open comments for people to list any site adjustments you think might be good.
This is all open to comment or criticism here or at the next meet-up so get thinkin'.

Hi everyone,
I think the time is here to have our 2nd meetup. I propose to meet June 27th 2006 at 7PM. I enjoyed the Bull & Bush Inn, and I wouldn't mind personally going there again, but I'm flexible. I'd love to hear from you all.
No fixed agenda as yet, let's keep it informal. I could share some ideas with you I have on listener stats. I've been developing some listener reporting tools which I could make available to you. This could be a nice discussion point.
I'm planning to bring the minidisc recorder along as well to capture the evening. If anyone has any objections to me recording the evening, please let me know before the event.
Looking forward to hearing from you all!
Cheers!
Phil

Retrievr is a fun web application. You draw a picture or upload an image and it displays pictures (from flickr) that have the same form and/or colour scheme. So far I've just used it to return photos based on a colour scheme. I don't know about the rights to each photo for use on your site but….
Check out a set of results here .

Stephen Eley at the Podcast Pendant has noted a good point about recording. SMILE
. I realised this recently after my girlfriend cautiously broached the subject that a few intros i did were dead boring. I knew they were because i’d recorded them at 1am after editting
interviews for a few hours. I since made a rule that i don’t record
anything unless i’m feeling fresh and happy (those episodes will always haunt me though). I just had a thought - Q. What do you get when you cross a podcast with a perfectionist? A. 9 shows in 9 months.
